As a third grader, Colleen Maloney remembers sitting in the back of a classroom and drawing her classmates, paying attention to what the kids were wearing and the alphabet above the chalkboard. Her teacher held her drawing up to the class and for a shy kid, it was nice to receive the recognition. Today she remains intrigued by her environment. Initially her camera captures the facts of a setting. Then she captures the feelings by enlisting skewed perspective, arbitrary color, energetic brush strokes, unfettered line and the magic of the press. By employing numerous printing methods this exhibit takes viewers on an unusual and varied tour of the nearby. No matter a person’s age or skill level, she believes that everyone’s efforts to capture a landscape elevate it by taking it out of the realm of ordinary to extra-ordinary.
