“Second Saturday” Artist Talk
Saturday, March 10, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Shift warmly invites you to an artist talk by Eric Day Chamberlain.
Chamberlain’s paintings in this show are composed of a series of random brush strokes, marks and drips. He begins editing the work by painting around marks that appeals to him. Working additively and reductively he builds and edits the surface. Initially he selects single marks to keep, but as the work progresses he includes larger areas. Chamberlain thinks of these as “collaged” paintings.
Some of the paintings refer to earlier abstract work in which he was referencing the landscape with a strong horizon. Others are more about emphasizing mark making, and some combine both elements.
Second Saturday at the TK Arts Building gives visitors the unique opportunity to experience personal encounters with a rich and diverse collection of art and artists. Enjoy open studios and galleries from noon to 5pm with special events and programming such as artist talks and receptions that support each month’s exhibitions.
