Statement
Anna Macrae
Gardens embody balance, color and order but also chaos, disorder and complexity. Gardens also represent the history and stories of the people who have built them. Serenity, romance, art and power can all be expressed and experienced in gardens.
Using the metaphor of gardens and landscapes as a starting point, Anna Macrae and David Traylor have created paintings, ceramics and mixed media constructions.
Anna Macrae is a British born artist, who was raised in a family of artists and gardeners, and continues in that tradition. Her art and garden overlap in her need to build, find solace and become immersed in the physical process of creating beauty from mud. She is interested in the notion of making a living footprint representing a small moment in time that takes a lifetime to take root.
