Statement
Stephanie Hargrave
Semantic Drift is a body of work developed during a recent artist residency in Brooklyn. The work is about entomology and etymology, and expresses Hargrave’s interests in a wide range of things including biomass ratios, climate change, insect movement and the benefits of mimicking them, pollination, mycological networks, the history of words, word meaning shifts through history, and the ever changing ways we label and talk about the natural world, especially as it relates to arthropods.
