Becky Street and David Traylor | paper and clay

June 2 – July 2, 2022

Opening Reception: First Thursday, June 2, 5-8pm
Meet the Artists: Saturday, June 11, 11am-2pm

paper and clay is the meeting of two mediums: printmaking by Becky Street and ceramics by David Traylor. Resulting from a yearlong collaboration, clay vessels collaged with colorful monoprints are presented along with individual prints and ceramic jars.

As with any successful collaboration, the whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts. Both artists have a strong interest in the form and shape of vessels either as a subject of prints or in the making of ceramic bottles and containers.  The project started with David making the first ceramic vessels based on drawings by Becky. This gave Becky a “canvas” to begin composition and application of collages.  Based on a continuing dialog, new forms and refinements were made resulting in the collaged, ceramic vessels.

In addition, Becky is showing a monotype collection of various vessel shapes.  David is presenting a series of “moon jars” working with textured glazes on a simple, elemental form.

Gallery is open Fridays and Saturdays 11am – 4pm, face coverings enccouraged (policy subject to change).
