Robin Arnitz | Just Enjoy It

October 6 — October 29, 2022

First Thursday Art Walk, October 6, 5-8pm
Artist Demo, Saturday, October 8, 1pm

To connect with other mothers, I’m sharing vignettes of my own experiences and feelings around motherhood; painting expressively to capture the complex emotions, bizarre, funny moments and challenges of parenting.

The past few years of parenting a young child during Covid have heightened my awareness of how little our society supports parents, particularly mothers who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, as we’re struggling to hold onto our careers and identities. It’s given me greater insight into my work that deals with womanhood, often using self-portraits; specifically addressing gender inequality, interpersonal relationships, domestic life, the female body, and beauty’s subjectivity.
