January 5 —January 28, 2023
First Thursday Art Walk, January 5, 5-8pm
Artist talk with Holly Hazelton, Saturday, January 14, 2023, noon
In creating the forms and images depicted in my work, I pause just short of the moment of representation, before naming and storytelling. Basic physical attributes like shape, texture, color, material and edge are my primary interests during the process of creation. I consciously avoid making something identifiable, allowing intuition and feeling to form the relationships, build the structures and choose the materials. These methods and materials are casual and unfussy. My process results in playful, contemplative and often surprising imagery that reflects my experience of observing the world just before identity is overlaid upon it.
“That Thing, Right There” is a celebration of that moment when you see it but don’t quite know what to call it, and an invitation to linger there a while.
Gallery is open Fridays and Saturdays 11am – 4pm, face coverings encouraged (policy subject to change).
