Opening/First Thursday Art Walk: February 6, 5-8 pm
Closing Reception: Saturday, March 1, 1-3pm

My inspiration comes from the natural world around me and what I love most is the sense of great distance. I guess it’s what makes me feel most at peace. I began painting large canvases of the California landscape in oil when I was at Berkeley. I got sidetracked for awhile but when I moved to eastern Washington in the late 90’s I really found my greatest inspiration in the vastness and emptiness of the horizons as well as the rolling hills, patterned by tractors harvesting hay. Now that I live west of the mountains and am also taking a lot of road trips I’m finding more places, like the Olympic Peninsula and Nevada’s deserts and mountain ranges, or flooded fields after rain storms to inspire me.
