Miha Sarani

August 6 – 29, 2026

Opening/First Thursday Art Walk: August 6, 5-8 pm
Artist Talk: Saturday, August 22, starting at 1pm

Structured as an ontological allegory, Miha Sarani’s exhibition, TOTALITY *(TROJAN SOUL re:DUX) follows the emotional and physical journey of a reluctant protagonist, prompting the viewer to consider whether this figure will remain a passive observer or emerge as an active, heroic entity. Ultimately, the resolution of this inquiry resides within the interpretation of each individual spectator.

The central theme of this exhibition concerns temporal dimensionality. Exhibit emphasizes time through both the chronological sequence of the artworks, as well as its conceptual parameters. Within a three-act overall structure, each piece represents a day of the week and is accompanied by a musical composition intended to facilitate a four-dimensional experience. While each painting maintains its individual integrity, the exhibition collectively conveys a more expansive narrative.

This body of work was developed over a fourteen-year period. These years of extensive research incorporate a diverse array of influences, including sacred symbology, Gustav Schwab, the seventh art, loss, and Sidney Lumet’s “The Verdict.” Furthermore, the collection references Slovene cultural history, 1984, Joseph Campbell, music, Marcel Duchamp, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, the works of Umberto Eco, quantum physics, M-theory, religious dogmas, Dirac’s relativistic equation, Redshift, artistic tradition and the lived experience of an emigrant.

The exhibition invites the audience to reflect upon their personal histories as well as the evolution of global societies. It poses the question of whether solutions to contemporary inquiries regarding science, religion, globalization, and personal existence might be discovered within the archives of the past.

TOTALITY extends an invitation to embark on a journey of discovery and revelation.
