Karey Kessler and Tali Weinberg use text, data, maps, and washes of color to trace relationships between places, times, bodies, and psyche. In a loud and fractious world of intersecting crises, each artist, in their own way, confronts loss while holding on to the possibility of alternate futures. Made as practices of both grieving and care, Kessler’s maps and Weinberg’s news- and data-embedded color fields communicate beyond what we expect from these reference materials. Incorporating paper, thread, bark, and plastic, these works make space for a kind of knowing that is expansive, relational, and deeply felt.
