As a continuation of the ideas in his recent series, Stable Habits is a collection of smaller, more monochromatic pieces that feel like shorter, more focused visual thoughts rather than the longer narratives of his bigger works. John spends most of his time working in the studio, and he’s pretty obsessive about his process and planning. These images are all created in-camera, and he usually presents each grid in the order he shot them – the flow and sequence really matter to him.
He loves working with traditional photography tools and techniques, exploring how form, light, and time play together.
Stable Habits opens July 11 and is up until September at the Highline Heritage Museum, 819 SW 152nd St. Burien, WA 98166. The museum is open Thur-Sun 1pm-5pm. Visit the museum’s website for more info: https://highlinemuseum.org/
