Opening/First Thursday Art Walk: December 4, 5-8 pm
Part of the ongoing series Flower Power, Let your karma be your dharma takes the debris of our digital age—its manic streams of unboxing videos, influencer clips, corporate ads, and footage of extraction and waste—and turns it inside out. The work composts the visual excess that floods our senses daily, reworking it into something that both seduces and unsettles.
The process begins with gathering raw material: online detritus that reveals our culture’s obsessive cycles of consumption and disposal. Each clip is broken down, reoriented, and rendered anew. In After Effects, forms and patterns are isolated, transformed into kaleidoscopic fields, and then layered and color-treated until the source becomes something else entirely—something hallucinatory and self-aware.
Referencing the psychedelia of 1960s and ’70s rock posters, lava lamps, and tie dye, these works channel a visual language once associated with rebellion and transformation, now reanimated in the context of our aggressive algorithmic cyberculture—a culture seeded by leaders of the counterculture of yore. Let your karma be your dharma suggests that the path forward lies not in purity or escape, but in reworking the mess—turning cultural waste into a field of reflection.
