Artist Statement

I am a visual artist who grew up knowing, loving, and connecting with trees and landscape. After a storm in 2020 destroyed 70% of the beloved and iconic tree canopy in my hometown of Cedar Rapids, I began investigating the role trees play in my formative and current experiences of the places they are a part of. Experiencing nature through the lenses of loss, memory, ecological grief, and joy, my current work explores our ever changing relationship to our daily environments.
