Daya Bonnie Astor is an illustrator, photographer, printmaker, painter, and mixed media artist residing in the Seattle area. Her most recent work reflects her roots in New York and she is particularly energized by the fresh graffiti/street art [in the streets] being done there. Her work is also informed by years of nursing practice caring for people during birth, death, and any stage in between. A watershed experience during a sabbatical leave in southern India influences her colors, patterns, textures and aesthetic.
Daya’s work can be seen locally and has been shown internationally. Daya is a member of Shift Gallery, EAFA, American Association of Museums, and Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators. Her day job takes her into the community to guide students with internships, mentorships, and work skills. She volunteers in a free clinic and teaches art workshops in a variety of settings. Her dynamic family continues to grow.
