Artist Statement

Patrice Donohue’s work explores the elements of mystery, containment and intensity. She works with a variety of materials and constructs art in a variety of forms. Through working with common, organic materials such as newspaper, cloth, wax, and black ink, she creates landscapes of the mind, emotion and spirit. Her focus is on the structuring of surface, volume, light and materiality to create a tactile, visceral resonance for the viewer. She strives to create work that transcends the material and invites an opportunity for personal connection and contemplation; connecting her viewer, however momentary, to something unexpected in themselves.
