Playce | Amanda Triplett and Stephanie Krimmel

In this collaborative, immersive art experience by artists Stephanie Krimmel and Amanda Triplett, visitors are invited inside the sanctuary of a vibrant, patchwork blanket fort to collaborate on a moving kaleidoscope that is projected in real time. Inside this oasis of play, visitors can find refuge on soft pillows and explore tactile, sculptural elements arranged on a low table. As participants manipulate the objects, their interactions are captured on camera and transformed into a dynamic kaleidoscopic projection displayed outside the tent.

Visitors encountering the projection outside can further manipulate the kaleidoscope by interacting with a joystick, allowing the playful interactions to extend beyond the interior space. By combining these multiple modes of interaction, Playce becomes a complex social experience in which viewers work together to create mesmerizing designs in a multi-player environment.

The kaleidoscopic output is both spontaneous and beautiful, and illustrates how one starting point (the objects on the table) can lead to a myriad of possibilities.

Playce cultivates creativity and empathy through collaborative experimentation.
