Sue Springer | Harmonic Assembly

December 5 – 28, 2024

Opening/First Thursday Art Walk: December 5, 5-8 pm

Bringing disparate elements together constructs new and inventive forms with line, form, texture and tone creating opportunity for harmony and convergence. Two artists with distinct materials and media coalesce to find common approaches in Harmonic Assembly.

The ceramic sculpture of Sue Springer reflects the thoughts, experiences and particularly issues of the day. Assembling elements of patterned, textured forms in unexpected ways creates new and harmonic forms celebrating scale and strength. Often, they come together in a series with a specific thread. Springer creates quirky high fired ceramic sculptures from rolled slabs and structured forms. The sculptures, which are often figurative, celebrate color, whimsy and the freedom of unexpected combinations. Springer has said “I never know quite how the work will evolve, and am committed to allowing the sculptures to develop naturally and intuitively, often surprisingly”
