Artist Statement

Multidisciplinary artist Stephanie Krimmel explores new ways to consider, create and present art that are simultaneously universal and intimately connected to the individual. Central to her practice is a series called the Daily Art Habit – a seven+ year continuum in which she creates an autobiographical digital painting each day. She describes the individual images as personal time capsules because each contains evidence of the time and place of its creation as well as clues to her thoughts and feelings for the day.

Bridging the digital and physical worlds, Krimmel prints her daily art works as postcards, using them as raw materials for site-specific installations and wall sculptures constructed from anywhere between 160 and 2500 individual pieces. Her installations reflect strict rules and sets of algorithmic steps, self-imposed organization and filtering of the ever-increasing free flow of ‘data’ from her daily art practice. With forms responding to their physical environments, and content dependent upon on the current state of the daily series, each installation offers a unique temporal experience.

Krimmel hopes to inspire curiosity and creativity with her installations, interactive art works and community-driven pieces.
