Sue Springer | The World is On Fire

September 3 – 26, 2026

Opening/First Thursday Art Walk: September 3, 5-8 pm
Bookmaking Workshop: Sunday, September 13, 12-3pm*
Arts & Culture Week (September 19-27): Artist book display and drop-in book arts**

Sue Springer’s installation “The World is On Fire” transforms global instability and climate change into an immersive constellation of suspended ceramic spheres. Varying in size, surface, and texture, the rotating forms invite close examination, revealing raised flames, map-like imagery, and unexpected details that suggest a world in motion and under pressure.
The installation presents the viewer with a rich variety of visual surfaces. Each globe can be explored and rotated, with unexpected elements at every point. By inviting viewers to experience and examine each sphere, the work transforms passive observation into a tactile encounter with a world shaped by instability, urgency, and change.
