Becky Street, Michèle Landsaat and Stephanie Sykes | Under the Sun

January 8 – 31, 2026

Opening/First Thursday Art Walk: January 8, 5 – 8 pm
Artist Talk and Conversation: Saturday, January 17th starting at 1pm

Under the Sun is a collaboration between artists Becky Street, Stephanie Sykes & Michèle Landsaat.

Becky’s inspiration began with a workshop in Greece she was unable to attend. She became obsessed with all things “Greek,” thinking about all the visual cues she was missing: ancient artifacts, sun-drenched colors, and mediterranean meals. Never having visited the Greek Islands, she let her imagination play in the monotypes created for the show.

Stephanie’s art would not exist without her enduring fascination with birds. Circadian rhythms dictate a bird’s daily movements as well as annual migrations; the chlorophyl created provides the energy for a plant to produce compounds used to dye linen and the ultra violet light radiating from the sun’s surface transform chemicals and paper into the deepest blue. The natural materials, dyes, processes and subjects would not exist without the star we call our sun.

Michèle explores the symbolic meaning of the sun as the creative source and fire of life. When in alignment with the inner sun there is a freedom of expression that is authentic and pure. Her images in this show come from this place of spontaneity. Women, animals and mythical creatures are featured in both India ink drawings and cyanotype textiles.
