Artist Statement

My work investigates and engages with the multifaceted aspects of daily life – notably by contextualizing our collective existence, individual experiences, voyeuristic responses, and the concept of duality. I find that manipulating formal elements facilitates a more effective visual representation of these objectives. While my aim is to initiate a dialogue with the past, I frequently address contemporary issues, focusing on cyclical historical occurrences within present-day challenges.

My art practice seeks to establish a juxtaposition of conceptual art and aesthetic value, thereby visually integrating what I perceive as the essence of art-making as a philosophical endeavor. Consequently, interpretations of my work often incorporate both arbitrary and conventional signs, personal suppositions intertwined with stylistic representations of post-structuralist content. My conceptual framework endeavors to elevate my work beyond superficial contemporary references and transient aesthetics, which frequently prioritize approximation over substantive content.

Furthermore, my practice is profoundly informed by my background in art history, leading me to draw inspiration from both historical and contemporary masters. Nevertheless, I tend to most often revisit the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Marcel Duchamp, Martin Kippenberger, John Cage, Anselm Kiefer, Philip Guston, Ann Gale and Neo Rauch.

I posit that contemporary audiences have grown accustomed to having art dissected and analyzed for them. Although I appreciate contemporary art and admire many of its practitioners, I endeavor to create works of profound significance, serving as a conduit between ancient rituals and the contemporary audience.
